Description
This project was carried out by Astillero Bologna and took place in the ports of Punta del Este, Uruguay. It involved installing a marine engine prepared for saildrive on the Velamar 33 sailboat.
The engine used was the MINI-29, a compact and easily maintained boat motor. It is built on a 3-cylinder base engine with a power output of 27 HP at 3600 rpm and 952 cc.The base engine is manufactured by Mitsubishi, resulting in a highly reliable engine. One noteworthy aspect of Solé Diesel engines is their manufacture with a single-piece heat exchanger, minimizing the risk of leaks, and an oversized seawater pump, ensuring better engine cooling.
The adaptation of the engine to the boat was seamless thanks to the adaptation kit, integrating smoothly into the existing setup. This allowed the sailboat to continue sailing with its Volvo Penta 110S saildrive, without the need for replacement.
Undoubtedly, the inboard MINI-29 engine is an ideal choice for repowering sailboats and small vessels.
